Caring for Normal Skin
Normal skin is characterized by smooth skin with small pores, even and balanced moisture levels, very few if any fine lines and wrinkles, and portrays a youthful appearance. How fortunate are those blessed with such.
Although normal skin has very few flaws it still requires proper care to keep and maintain. If not properly cared for daily, over time it will eventually change to a less desirable condition that will require more effort to restore. Factors such as aging, sun exposure, and polution among other things rob normal skin of its good characteristics.
A cleanser or mild soap that will neither dry out or leave too much naturally produced oil on the skin is recommended. It doesn’t need a cleanser formulated to strip excess oil or a cleanser so mild it doesn’t remove oil that has collected throughout the day or night on its surface. The subaceous glands of those with normal skin neither over or under produce your body’s natural oils.
It does need to be cleansed of the dirt and grime that collect on its surface each day. Makeup and other substances that come from things such as polution should be removed every night before retiring. When makeup and dirt aren’t removed they block and clog pores which will cause oils to backup in the pores, develop bacteria, and eventually become acne.
Moisture levels of normal skin also need to be maintained with a moisturizer that is oil-free. Remember, normal skin is already producing just the right amount of moisture so the goal is to simply maintain moisture balance. Exfoliating two to three times per week is recommended to remove dead skin cells and refine the skins surface.
